IT IS WINTER.

As many are aware, despite the specter of the previous winter that looms large over us, unless you live in Buffalo, NY, this winter has been one of relative ease.  Let that not fool you into a false sense of ease, gentle reader. Winter is real, and it is here.  If you have not yet availed yourself of the purchase of a parka, please do not put it off any longer.  If, when the frost giants have arisen, and the great "Other" have unleashed their hell upon the children of summer, you do not find yourself in possession of a quality animal hide, fur lined parka, cry not to the voice that brought you warning.  And woe betide any man who casts aspersions on this warning.

As the recent largest snow fall of all time has blanketed the east coast in icy splendor, please provision your sled with emergency supplies should you need to flee the coming onslaught.  Gentle readers, I hope this warning will not fall on ears plugged by the cotton fruits of summer.

Until next time, stay warm.

  1. Do great coats count as Parkas?

  2. Liberius. I am considering a walking tour of Antartica. Is there a particular jacket you would recommend? I am looking for something that doesn't make me look too "bulky". Your friend.

  3. While greatcoats are unparalleled stylistically to give that certain je ne sais quoi to the gait of a well appointed male's walk, as a coat to provide you with both style and warmth, a parka with hood is by far the preferable garment.

  4. My dear Ms. Trotter,

You can't know how humbled and appreciative I am that you would entrust your humble scribe with recommending a quality winter parka for your upcoming fashion tour. I totally understand your desire to remain properly warmed and insulated from the brisk winds that float off the ocean to the Antartican continent, while still maintaining that slim "model physique profile" for all your fellow walkers.

With pleasantries hereby dispatched, let us proceed. As loathe as I am to not recommend my traditional first choice of hide and fur, in your case I will make an exception. With the fine bones and graceful curves which are so evident from your profile portrait, I think a goose down parka, with special hand warming pockets, and face hugging hood will be most effective at maintaining core temperature, while still allowing the display of your feminine curves.

    Your perfect parka
